We’re Recruiting!

Could you be a trustee at the Museum of Dartmoor Life?

We have a strong group of trustees and a wonderful team of volunteers and are looking for people to  join us in our next steps.

Our vision at the Museum of Dartmoor Life is to become the primary gateway to Dartmoor, its history and people.  We have an exciting and ambitious new Strategic Plan and are now seeking additional trustees to help us deliver on that vision.

If you have a love of Dartmoor and would like to apply your professional skills to a worthwhile cause, then the Museum of Dartmoor Life offers an excellent opportunity to be involved in this transformational journey from a rural museum in Okehampton to  Dartmoor’s premier destination.

We are particularly looking for people with skills in the following areas:

  • Public relations – This role will be instrumental in transforming the public perception of a rural museum in Okehampton to one which is the primary gateway to exploring the whole of Dartmoor, its history and people.
  • Digital – This role will be instrumental in enabling the museum to move into the 21st Century, to make use of technology to improve interpretation and the overall visitor experience.  It will also support our goal of reaching beyond the physical constraints of the museum through digital engagement onto the Moor itself.
  • Digital Marketing – This role will be instrumental in enabling wider engagement with visitors – locally, nationally and internationally, and in reaching a more diverse and inclusive audience.
  • Income generation – This role will be instrumental in securing external funding such as grants and donations enabling the museum to deliver its strategic development goals and hence its growth from a rural museum in Okehampton to one which is the primary gateway to exploring the whole of Dartmoor, its history and people.
  • Chair – This role will be instrumental in delivering the 5 year Strategic Plan and in achieving the vision as a primary gateway to exploring the whole of Dartmoor, its history and people.
