Whether on foot, by bike, or by horse, Dartmoor has an abundance of on and off-road routes to offer those in search of outdoor pursuits. Your exploration can be as challenging or as relaxed as you wish. Make your way to the Tors – stunning hills characterized by outcrops of bedrock, due to the granite-rich area. Be sure to look out for the pretty Dartmoor Ponies grazing in the rolling valleys along the way. If you want to stray from dry land and into the water, there are a variety of activities in the area. Kayakers and canoeists will enjoy some of the best mid-grade white water in the UK, gorge-scramblers and wild swimmers will also be able to explore Dartmoor from a different perspective.

The Highwayman Inn

Quoted as being the most unusual pub in Britain, The Highwayman Inn sits surrounded by the luscious and mysterious countryside of Dartmoor National Park. The building was originally built as an inn in 1282. It is an ideal centre for walking and cycling: the Two Castles Trail, the Granite Way and the Millenium Cycle Route are all close by. There are three bedrooms with stunning views across to Sourton Down and Bridestowe. We are 4.8 miles from Okehampton on the main Tavistock Road A386.

The Oxenham Arms

Situated in South Zeal, four miles from Okehampton and on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, The Oxenham Arms is a historic 12th-century manor house converted to a coaching inn. Ideal for sightseeing, walking and cycling, with easy access to the A30. Restaurant and bar meals available lunchtime and evenings. Three Crowns Hotel

This 13th-century coaching inn is in the pretty stannary town of Chagford, just off the A30 between Exeter and Okehampton. The White Hart Hotel

The city of Exeter is about 40km to the east, along the A30, while the Cornish town of Launceston is about 27km to the southwest, along the A30.

Appledore is a small family run touring park bordering the Dartmoor National Park in the heart of Devon, with easy access to the Devon coast and Cornwall. The park is new and covers eight acres with wonderful views. Conveniently located for many places of interest including Castle Drogo, Finch Foundry, the Museum of Dartmoor Life and the Granite Way (National Cycle Route 27). We also have a Glamping Bell tent, sited by our lake, which can be hired for 3 or more nights.

The Drewe Arms public house is about 1 mile distant has a friendly atmosphere and serves home cooked meals. Castle Drogo is less than 10 minutes drive away and Fingle Bridge is only 5 minutes drive away where the Fingle Bridge Inn is recommended for its food and surroundings.

The Park is in independent ownership and is committed to sustainable tourism.

Hideaway Camping

Hideaway Camping is a beautiful secluded campsite just 7 miles out of Okehampton. We offer camping and a range of glamping options including a Gypsy caravan, Shepherds hut, Airstream caravan and igloo pods. It is set within 24 acres of fields and magical woodland where you can enjoy campfires, hammock garden, picnics by the stream, a fairy glade and our four lovey kunekune pigs. We have hot showers, flushing loos (as well as compost loos), a wet weather room with sofas and games and a kitchenette .We are open all year round, prices start from £14 a night for camping and from £65 a night for glamping.

A caravan and camping site exclusively for adults situated in the beautiful Dartmoor National Park, just 1.5 miles from the A30 off the A382. We are surrounded by farm and woodland with lovely walks accessible. We are a Visit England 5 Star and AA 5 Pennant site. Our shop stocks local produce where possible along with some bare essentials, including calor gas. Freshly baked bread to order. We have an information point with coffee machine and freezer for customers use. We have a multi award winning toilet/shower block with laundry and indoor dish washing. It also has disabled facilities. We won 2016 Loo of the Year Platinum award and placed in the top 100 campsites for 2016!
